Review
Carter comes from small town roots, has a big heart and only wants to help others. She has recently moved to LA and accepted a teaching job in a less desirable neighborhood. She has two friends, Taylor who she met through work and Liam who she has known since she was a child who is now a famous musician.
Austin’s sole focus is on achieving success as a MMA fighter. After his experience with his ex he has no interest in a relationship or love.
When Liam introduces Carter and Austin their first meeting was a disaster due to Austin’s past. A groveling apology later they become fast friends and end up spending all their free time together. When circumstances cause them to reflect on the status of their relationship it does not go well, and Carter is left with a broken heart.
A year later Austin has found the professional success he always wanted but he has never gotten over Carter. He wants a second chance, but Carter is hesitant to have her heart broken a second time especially with all the outside forces that are trying to tear them apart.
I really enjoyed the debut story from this author. Both characters were well developed, and I liked how Carter wasn’t willing to accept less from Austin then she felt she deserved and although Austin was slow to admit his feelings once he did he was all in. The secondary characters were great as well and I hope they get their own happy ever afters.
