John’s past has shown him that love and relationships are meant to be temporary and that is the rule he lives by. He is intrigued by his new neighbor and is drawn to her in a way that he hasn’t felt before, but he believes she is looking for the happy ever after and that is not him.

Gemma believes in happy ever after, but she is not sure if it is in the cards for her. She has seen the multiple marriages her mother and aunt have experienced and doesn’t want the same outcome for herself.
