When I met Amber Lakes, I had no idea that she’d become a shining star in my dark, miserable life.

Her smile was never supposed to warm my heart, and the sight of her tears was never supposed to make me want to hunt down the person who’d caused them.

We were never supposed to touch, or kiss, or do so many dirty things on campus that I knew could jeopardize my career…

None of it was supposed to happen because she’s the student—my athlete—and I’m her college track coach.

I could lose everything by being with her, but I’ve fallen too damn hard, and despite how big the risks are, it’s too late to turn back now.

Review

When Amber accepted the scholarship from Bennett University, she knew that it would be an adjustment, but she wasn’t expecting the cultural and financial differences to be so divisive.   She is determined to fulfill her father’s dream of being the track star he believed that she could be and isn’t about to be derailed by the people who are trying to stand in her way.    The one thing she didn’t expect was that her biggest challenge would be in denying her attraction to her coach as acting on it could destroy everything.

Joaquin is her coach, and no one can understand her challenges better than he can.    He knows she has the skill  to be a star and he knows exactly how to get the best performance that she can give.    His attraction to her is problematic especially since it isn’t just her physical beauty but her inner beauty that calls to him in a way that he has  never felt before.    He knows that being with her could have devastating consequences but walking away is getting more difficult every day.

This story has all the trademarks you know and love from this author including great characters and hot chemistry, but it is how the social issues were tackled that you will remember.
