Pax has a promising football career in his future if he can put an end to his self-destructive behavior off the field and that includes ending his relationship with his girlfriend. He can’t risk being distracted from football so a fake relationship with his sister’s best friend is a win-win for both of them.
Poppy is quiet and is more comfortable being on the sidelines rather than the main attraction. Now that her ex is back in her life she wants to show him that she has moved forward with her life and pretending to date the popular quarterback will make that happen. Their heads acknowledge that it is an agreement between them, nothing more and nothing less, but their hearts don’t seem to agree.
From the outside looking in Poppy and Pax appear to have nothing in common but they give each other exactly what they need and balance each other to perfection.
