Wilder’s return to his hometown is twofold as not only is he there for his brother’s wedding but because of his career as a detective he is working undercover to investigate criminal activity that could hurt those he cares about the most. He knew that avoiding his ex-wife wouldn’t be impossible but he wasn’t prepared for the chemistry and connection between them to be stronger than ever.
Although it’s been a decade Kate was devastated when Wilder left town. She accepted that the situation was difficult but the fact that he cared so little that he was prepared to walk away rather than trying to work through it was what hurt the most.
