What made a good girlfriend?
Someone who was understanding. Kind. Someone who listened and baked cute, little cupcakes and remembered things like anniversaries and their boyfriends’ favorite meals.
In a word, someone who wasn’t Tammy.
She wasn’t good with mush, couldn’t stand watching a romantic movie without wanting to hurl. She didn’t have songs with her significant others. Hell, she didn’t have significant others.
Then . . . Fletcher.
He was just a co-worker who needed a fake girlfriend to take to a wedding, one who wouldn’t get attached like all the other women who fell in love with him at the drop of a hat and then required him to do outlandish things like solicit fake girlfriends.
In another word, he needed Tammy and her cold, dead heart.
So she did him a solid, went to the wedding, and charmed everyone while staying blissfully unattached.
But then Fletcher fell for her.

Showing up alone at his brother’s wedding is not an option as Fletcher doesn’t want to be viewed as single and desperate when his ex is going to be there as well. Asking his co-worker Tammy seems like the perfect solution as she is even less interested in a relationship than he is, and the romance of the occasion won’t have her planning their wedding.
Tammy has no interest in a relationship beyond the physical and she has no intention of changing that outlook. She and Fletcher can enjoy the weekend together and revert back to the friendship they share unscathed, can’t they?
Fletcher is not only the perfect combination of sweet and sexy, but he is also so understanding as he is determined to prove to her by word and deed that he will always be there for her, and he loves her just the way she is.
