But I can’t afford to lose this marriage by falling in love.
You see, I made a promise to myself—one I plan on keeping… even if it ruins us.

Life hasn’t been easy for McKinley as it hands her one challenge after another to overcome but rather than bow under the pressure she perseveres, and it only makes you admire her that much more. She doesn’t allow many close, but Cooper’s grandfather has managed to break through her walls, so it seems only fitting to enter into an arrangement which helps everyone involved.
Cooper’s Pops is one of the most important people in his lie and there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for him. He is finding it difficult balancing his professional baseball career and being there for him so marrying McKinley seems like a win-win. He gets help with Pops and she gets what she needs as well, what could possibly go wrong?
Cooper and McKinley were so much fun together. The interactions between them are humorous but it still has an emotional pull that has you empathizing with both the characters and their story as they realize that the best things in life happen when you least expect it.
