Lips that I had spent years wanting to kiss.
Lips that I had dreamt about night after night, waking to wonder what if.
What if he noticed me?
What if he wanted me?
But I quickly learned some things are better left to wonder.
Especially where Levi Mills is concerned.
He didn’t just steal my innocence that night.
He broke every part of me.
Dismantled me from the inside out until there was nothing left of the girl I used to be.
Years passed. Moments faded into the background. Until eventually he became nothing more than a distant memory- a dream that almost didn’t seem real.
But then suddenly he’s there, standing in front of me again like he never left. And in that one heartbeat, in that one breath, I relive it all over again. Every touch. Every word. Like frozen snippets of time suspended in front of my eyes.
And then he smiles that all too familiar smile, meet me at midnight moving soundlessly across his lips.
★★★★★ Amazon Review – “There are many emotions throughout this read that will have on edge of your seat.”
★★★★★ Amazon Review – “Oh my heart! My heart is so full! Five stars! Five stars for my newest favorite book from Melissa Toppen.”
Olive and Levi have been friends since they were children however her feeling for him have always run much deeper. They spent one night together which Olive believe was the beginning of what she always wanted only to find out it was actually the ending when he disappeared without any explanation or further contact.
It will be years later before fate brings them back into their hometown at the same time however Levi is about to find out that Olive isn’t about to just forgive and forget. Levi would like a chance to correct the mistakes of his past but the challenges that life continues to throw at them brings them further apart rather than together.
Olive is relatable as you can emphasize with her reactions regarding Levi while when it comes to Levi there are times you won’t like him and times you love him and when it really mattered, he proved to be the man that Olive needs and deserves in her life.
