People rarely catch me off guard. Iām Collin St. James, after all, starting wide receiver for the Virginia Thunder, and playing football has kept me on my toes. But nothing could have prepared me to mentor our newest teammate, kicker Charlie Nicholson.
I wasnāt caught off guard because I had to take someone under my wing, or because Charlie was easily banging sixty-yard kicks through the uprights. It happened when the rookieās silver helmet came off and long blonde hair spilled out. Completely baffled, I edged closer and took in the prettiest blue eyes Iād ever seen.
Charlie wasnāt only a complete knockout, she was also my younger sisterās closest friend, and when she smiled at me, I knew right then and there I was in serious trouble.
The last thing I needed was a distraction, but thanks to my gorgeous new teammateāand, to my surprise, my roommateāthat was exactly what I got.Ā

Collin is looking forward to meeting his newest teammate especially once he sees the strength and accuracy behind their kicks which makes them a perfect fit the team. Things are about to become complicated when he finds out that the person behind the kicks is his sisterās best friend and not only is she his teammate but she is about to become his roommate as well.
Charlie is making history on the field but living and practicing with the man who has always owned her heart is proving to be a little problematic. She knew that denying her feelings for him wouldnāt be easy but finding out he feels the same way is going to make things even more difficult.
Charlie is fun, feisty and has always known who she wanted and it was entertaining to watch Collin as he realizes that the woman he has always wanted has been there all along and he just didnāt realize it.
