As much as Cannon loved hockey he didn’t hesitate to walk away from his career to be there for his wife through her final days. A decade later he was able to return to the game he loved as a head coach which is the driving force in his life. When he meets Ava he is drawn to her but he has also been upfront that hockey will always come first.

Ava is trying to rebuild her life after it was turned upside down both personally and professionally. She is willing to accept what he is willing to give as she is trying to pursue her own career until she must decide what is best for her even if it means Cannon can no longer be part of her life.

Although the reasons are different both Cannon and Ava are still dealing with the turmoil from their pasts. Cannon is struggling as he isn’t sure he has room in his life for her and hockey but he may just find out he can’t live without either one. The narrators only made this story better as they brought out the personalities of the characters as well as the humor, heat and heart of the story.
