Maddie has been best friends with Nash since they were children and he and his family were the one bright spot in a family situation that no child should be subjected to. Her feelings for Nash ran much deeper than friends but when he didn’t appear to feel the same way she chooses a different path. She soon realizes it wasn’t the right choice and escapes back to her hometown.
Maddie has always owned Nash’s heart but after a traumatic event he vows to always be there for her and doesn’t want to do anything that could jeopardize that. When he finds out what has brought her home, he knows the time has come for him to stop hiding his feelings and claim the woman he has always wanted.
Maddie is strong and resilient both when it comes to her past and the present while Nash is determined to deal with those who mean her harm. Everyone that cares about them knows they belong together, and I enjoyed seeing them realize it as well. The narrators portrayed the emotion and suspense of the story and only made these characters more captivating than they already were.
