Meet Elizabeth

Elizabeth O’Roark spent many years as a medical writer before publishing her first novel in 2013. She holds bachelor’s degrees in journalism and arts from the University of Texas, and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Notre Dame. She is the recipient of the 2017 IBPA gold medal for romance. She lives in Washington DC with her three children.

Lucie is trying to move past a destructive marriage that changed her and how she views herself in a negative way. She needs to be the best mother she can be to her children, so she heads back to one of the places that her happiest childhood memories. She had fallen in love with the boy next year and finding out he is still there should be welcome news until she learns that he has changed as well.

Caleb has been hurt by past experiences as well and he is focused on his company and has little concern or consideration for anything else. He doesn’t want Lucie as his friend, neighbor or employee but fate had other plans. Now not only Lucie but her children as well have invaded both his thoughts and his heart, but the past isn’t always easy to overcome.

Both Lucie and Caleb bear the emotional scars of the past which causes some turmoil and complications. They are both cautious about being hurt and letting someone into their lives but sometimes the reward is worth the risk.
