The death of Anabelle’s father was difficult enough but find out that her family is about to lose their home is a loss she isn’t willing to take. She decides to approach the man who owns the lien against it and makes a bargain where she will stay at his estate, and she will work for him for the next year. If she succeeds the debt is forgiven and if she doesn’t, she loses her home.
Asher wants nothing to do with Anabelle or the way she makes him feel. There are so many reasons he believes they shouldn’t be together from his lifestyle to the difference in their ages, but events unfold that not only brings out the need to protect her but makes the chemistry and connection between them undeniable.
Anabelle is exactly who Asher needs in his life as she submits in certain areas but challenges him in other areas. Not only are Anabelle and Asher captivating characters but there is a great cast of secondary characters that leave us looking forward to the rest of this series. The performance of the narrators brought out the suspense, great chemistry and emotions of this story.
