Due to his friendship with Ivy’s brother, he was also close to the rest of the family including Ivy.  Seeing her deal with the aftermath of what she went through only deepens the feelings he has for her, and he isn’t about to back away even if her family might not agree.
I enjoyed seeing Ivy realize her dream and for Marco to fulfill a dream he didn’t know he had in each other.   The family relationship is heartwarming as when it matters they are always there for each other.
