I freeze while Ruby burns right in front of me. I don’t want her to see how I’m holding my cold heart in my shaking hand for her. How this will hurt like hell if she says no.

I let her search my eyes and see it’s not a lie. I hide so many truths, but my feelings for her are my most vulnerable ones.

I brush my thumb over her plump bottom lip, making her softly gasp.
