Mabel has always felt like she never belonged in her hometown, but she always had her brother. When he passed away she realized how alone and unsupported she really was and she believed that Cal, her brother’s best friend and the man she has feelings for felt the same. She decided to leave and created a new life for herself but when it all comes crashing down she had no other choice but to return.
Cal has always had feelings for Mabel but between his loyalty to her brother and her father he didn’t act on them. Now that she is back he isn’t about to let her walk out of his life a second time however with their very different visions of the future and the past will he be able to convince her that staying doesn’t mean giving up her dreams.
This is a heartwarming story about second chances and healing from the past. I enjoyed seeing the romance between Cal and Mabel evolve as they create the perfect team to be their for their town and find love and acceptance along the way.
