Emmaline did not have a happy childhood, but she did have her grandmother and her friendship with Bodie even though their feuding families couldn’t know about it. After her grandmother passed away she wants to continue her tradition of the town bakery but that is placed in jeopardy when in order to inherit she must be married and the only choice is her estranged friend.
Bodie is the police chief, and he still has deep feelings for Emmaline even though she wants nothing to do with him and holds him responsible for her brother’s fate. That doesn’t deter him as when she needs a husband he is the man for the job and hopes that it will allow them the time to not only heal from the past but realize they have a future together.
Emmaline and Bodie take us on a heartwarming journey as he supports her both when it comes to the bakery and those that mean her harm while she realizes what love and family really means.
