A lot of people use their jobs to define them, but my life really starts after I clock out.  Making sweet treats is my passion, but it doesn’t pay the bills.  One day I dream of having my own shop in Denver, but right now building my business means tables at events.

I’ve seen Joss working security at a few events, but he doesn’t see me.  Until he does.  Now it’s like he doesn’t look away.  I’m not sure what to do with his interest, no matter how much I want to believe what he’s offering me.

Will Joss coming into my life be the first thing that changes everything?  Maybe I really can leave my boring job behind and switch to full time with my treats.  A chance meeting at an event just may prove to help both of our dreams come true.  Then what happens with us, can we really have forever together?

I thought I’d have more options after coming back stateside and joining civilian life after my time in the military.  It was naïve of me; I get that now.  I’ve been struggling, but without a lot of help the best I could do is this security job and an empty studio apartment.

One of the events I worked brought me my side gig.  Modelling for book covers wasn’t part of my plan, but it helps pay my bills.  Maybe it’ll mean I can leave my security job behind.  The events make me want to pull my hair out, until I see her there.

Syndal is everything I’ve ever wanted.  She’s driven, passionate, and more beautiful than she realizes.  Her curves make me want to map her body with my hands, but I can see the wariness in her eyes.  Watching her back at events, even when she doesn’t need me to, while convincing her she’s mine is the purpose I’ve been waiting for.  There’s no doubt in my mind that she’s the sweetness I’ve always needed in my life.
