Excerpt:
He chuckles again, then winces as he shifts, clearly sore. “You always this mean in the mornings?”
“Only to strangers trespassing on my property.”
That wipes the smile clean off his face.
For a second, there’s something almost … remorseful in his eyes.
“I’m not a stranger,” he says quietly. “We’re old friends.”
“We were never friends, Waylon.”
“Weren’t we?”
I cross my arms over my chest and shake my head. “Not to my recollection. Just neighbors.”
“Okay,” he says. “Fair enough.”
I stand there in the humming barn, staring at my biggest regret, surrounded by horses and old memories I didn’t ask for.
He looks out of place and familiar, all at once—like trouble that never really leaves town, just lies in wait for the right moment to sneak back in and wreak havoc on your life.
“Guess I’ll get out of your way,” he says, walking past me to the barn doors. Then he glances back and points in the opposite direction. “You said two miles that way, right?”
I let out an exaggerated breath. “If you plan on jumping barbed wire and cutting through hay fields.”
“Great. Seven miles on the road it is,” he says before turning back to the doors.
I glance at the sky, just starting to lighten.
“Wait, Waylon,” I call. “Cabe’ll be back at any minute from riding the fence line. He’s get some secret breakfast date in town. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind dropping you off on his way.”
“That’d be awesome. Not sure I’m up for that walk.”
“Just wait by the front of the barn. You don’t want Grandma Evelyn to catch sight of you through the kitchen window. You’d get a tongue-lashing or dragged inside for breakfast. No way to tell which way it’d go.”
“That’s a terrifying thought.”
He continues forward, dripping water onto the concrete, and pauses at the barn door. “Hey, Shelby.”
I look at him despite myself.
“Still feisty,” he says. “Some things don’t change.”
I lift the hose again.
He laughs and ducks out into the cold morning.
And just like that, Waylon Ludlow is back in my life—wet, hungover, and exactly the kind of complication I don’t need right now.
And with a Ruby. Figures.
I sigh, turn back to the horses, and mutter, “This day has already been too damn long.”
Blurb:
Waylon Ludlow was my first heartbreak—the boy I secretly loved from the sidelines while he ruled Wildhaven High and then disappeared without a word. Now he’s back, all smirks and whiskey-soaked charm, and with a baby no one knew about.
But I’m not the same quiet girl I once was. I’m fire now. Feral, stubborn, and one smart-ass comment away from punching him square in the jaw.
I live loud, love hard, and fight for what matters. And even though Waylon is a mess of mistakes wrapped in faded denim, my heart still skips like it’s seventeen every time he looks at me. And his little girl, well, she’s got me wrapped around her tiny finger.
We clash. We burn. We break things. But the more I push him away, the more I wonder—am I chasing the storm, or is it chasing me?

Excerpt:
I chuckle under my breath as I put the car in reverse and pull out of our parking spot.
Why does bickering with this girl make me so damn happy now when, before, I wanted to wring her neck?
We get on the freeway and make our way out of Bozeman with ease. Once we’re on an empty stretch of highway, I put the car in cruise control and lean back to get more comfortable.
“How’s the drama on your group chat?” I ask when I see she’s been typing away again.
“Surprisingly good,” she replies without looking up from her device.
“Surprisingly?”
She puts her phone down on her lap and turns to me. “Yeah. Sounds like the drama has calmed down.”
“That’s a good thing, right?”
“We’ll see. There’s still a lot going on.”
“Are you one of those girls who feeds on drama and looks for it, even when there is none?” I say it more jokingly but realize quickly that’s not how she takes it by the way she sits up in her seat and turns to face me.
“Are you calling me a drama queen?”
“Nuh-uh, girl. No need to get all pissy on me.” I snap my fingers and roll my neck, acting like a true drama queen.
She laughs so hard that she slaps her hands on her lap. “Did you really just do that?”
I grin, looking back to the road, acting normal again. “I could tell your fight button just got pushed, so I knew I needed to bring you back down a notch.”
“My fight button?”
“Yeah, that little button deep inside you that seemed to be stuck down every time you looked at me before.”
She laughs again. “I can’t believe you’re calling it my fight button. Where does anyone even come up with something like that?”
I look between her and the road. “You tell me! I swear if I even breathed, you wanted to rip my head off.”
“And you didn’t feel the same way about me?”
I tilt my head back and forth, like I’m weighing my options. “Depended on the day.”
I look at her out of the side of my eye and love the way she’s smiling right now. It’s not an expression I saw on her much before, and I’ll admit, she’s fucking beautiful when she smiles.
Blurb:
What happens when your mystery match is everything you want—except he’s your real-life enemy?
I would honestly rather walk down Fifth Avenue in my underwear than deal with David at work.
When my best friend’s brother creates a blind dating app where your friends play matchmaker, signing up feels harmless. Seven days of anonymous texting before you can even exchange phone numbers? Easy. Low stakes. Zero chance of someone finding out it’s me if I don’t want them to—especially since I sign up with my middle name instead of my real first name, you know… just in case.
My mystery guy turns out to be charming, funny, and he gets me in a way no one else ever has. I look forward to every message like some kind of lovesick teenager staying up way too late just to talk to him.
There’s just one teensy little problem, one big enough to shake the universe—the person I’m matched with is David from work, only I don’t figure that out until day seven.
So now I’m falling for the man I swear I can’t stand, and he has no idea it’s me on the other side of the phone.
What do I do when the seven days are up and real life steps in, insisting I either reveal myself or ghost the one person I never meant to fall for?
Oh No… It’s You is a contemporary rom-com featuring an irresistible enemies-to-lovers, workplace romance twist that will have you rooting for David and Zoe to finally get it right.

✨TEASER:
SAP & SECRETS by @daphneelliotauthor releasing January 26th!

“Jasper.” Her tone was sharp, pulling me out of my haze. “What’s wrong?”
I inhaled sharply, only now realizing I hadn’t been breathing.
I looked at Vincent and then at her again.
“He laughed,” I said, holding up my phone. “I was doing dumb stuff and he laughed. A real laugh.”
Her face lit up, her dark eyes warm. “Really? Vincent, you’re laughing? Do it again,” she said to me. “I can’t believe I missed it.”
As much as I didn’t want to look away from her and miss a second of the excitement in her face, I kneeled and picked up Sophie the Giraffe, making her twerk as I rapped badly about the Very Hungry Caterpillar eating all the leaves off the tree.
It took a minute, but he did it again. It started with a tiny rumble but quickly turned into a full laugh.
Evie sat next to me, that towel hiding very little, and wiped a tear from her eye. “Oh my God. It’s amazing. He’s amazing. The baby book said three to four months.”
Filled with pride, I grinned at her. “Ahead of schedule. He’s a genius. Obviously.”
Nodding, she tickled his foot, causing him to kick and giggle. “We’re not supposed to say that out loud,” she chided me playfully.
“Yes, but it’s undeniable. He’s the smartest and most handsome baby ever.” I leaned down and blew a raspberry on his stomach. “You get all that from your mom. I take no credit. But I’m so proud of you, bud.”
Evie beamed at me, her attention making my stomach do backflips. I’d gotten them both to smile today, and that sent me soaring to a level of joy I’d never experienced before.
The sheer satisfaction of making my son laugh? Of making Evie look at me like I was some kind of hero? This was a type of high that couldn’t be replicated.
