Those last two words echo like a warning—working together.

Mabel had hoped that the prize money from a reality baking show would give her the money she needed to start her own bakery only to have it go sideways thanks to the actions of her now ex boyfriend. When she inherits a building from her grandmother she is one step closer, but it is only when her brother suggests that Corbin, his friend and one of the players on his team,

Corbin has been denying his feelings for Mabel for years in part because of her brother and his best friend and in part because he believed he needed to focus on his career as a professional hockey player and being a single father to his daughter. He has always planned on owning a bakery after his career ended so becoming partners with Mabel only brings up the timeline.

The banter between Mabel and Corbin was humorous and Corbin is so supportive of Mabel when it comes to helping out at the bakery and standing up to people who don’t believe in her. The relationship that Mabel had with Corbin’s daughter was touching as well. The dual narration of Smanatha Brentmore and Teddy Hamilton only increased the entertainment this story offered.
