Jack breathes out slowly, and as a few strands of hair fall over his blue eyes, he shifts his attention from the marks to my face. There’s nothing but serenity in the way he looks at me. “Are you trying to make him jealous?”

“No. I want him to leave me alone,” I whisper, my senses alive with anticipation.

“Are you still in love with him?”
 

“No,” I repeat.

Taking my drink in his other hand, he sets it on the bar next to him and then turns back to me.

The hand stroking my arm comes under my chin, demanding all my attention.

But he already has it.

“You deserve so much better than what he can give you, and the only time a man should put his hands on you is to make you feel like a queen.”

I didn’t even notice we were moving until my back finds the wall behind me.

His thumb and forefinger still hold my chin when his lips hover over mine. “I know he’s watching us.”

“Probably,” I reply, not caring either way.

He smiles down at me. “Remember when you asked if I’d kiss you tonight?”

“Yes,” I whisper.
 

“Was that because you wanted me to?”

My heart races in my chest. Every part of me wants Jack to take my mouth with his and kiss me in the way I’ve been thinking about for longer than I care to admit. Yet I still can’t shake the uncertainty pooling in my gut. What if none of what I’m feeling is real for him? What if this is his way of proving to Tyler that we’re real and to back the fuck off me?

My head wars with my heart.

Jack’s eyes search mine. “Talk to me, Kendra.”

“I-I want you to kiss me.”

When his hand finds the back of my neck and pulls me closer, he brushes his lips over mine.

“How does that feel?”

I roll my lips together. The taste of him is faint but incredible. “More.”

Excerpt:

I follow Paige, Poppy, Saylor, Maci, and Amelia down the stairs to find our seats. My heart races inside my chest because I know in a few minutes, I’m going to make my way down to the plexiglass to make it seem like Smith and I are a couple. We’ve shared a lot of memories in the past, and I don’t think I have ever been this nervous.

Before leaving the house, I told Saylor the plan. She rolled her eyes but then laughed, shrugging her shoulders before eating one of the many cake pops Kolt had delivered to our place for his wife. I think maybe she’s secretly rooting for us to get back together, but I also know she’s worried her brother is going to do something stupid. Or maybe she knows I’m not whole enough to give Smith everything he needs to have a healthy, loving relationship. Who knows?

Once the girls all sit, Paige smiles. “Your man is looking for you.”

When I lift my head, my cheeks flood with heat when I see him leisurely skating our way. On shaky legs, I head down the few stairs remaining and wait for him on the other side of the plexiglass.

I stop when he’s just a few inches from me, and he tips his chin up and grins.

Hi, he mouths, making me blush even harder.


“Hi,” I attempt to mouth but end up actually squeaking out the word.

He gives me a strange look, as if he’s asking me to trust him.


Slowly, he puts his gloved hand to the glass, flashing his eyes at my hand. Cautiously, I bring it to the glass and put it over his. Within seconds, people are cheering, and some girls are gushing over it, but everything seems like background noise. My head spins, and my soul vibrates.

For a moment, fake or not, it really is just us.

“Good luck,” I say, smiling at him and letting my hand sluggishly fall to my side.

“Thank you, babe.” His eyes are full of mischief as he blows me a kiss, sending tingles rushing over every inch of my skin.

Skating backward for a moment, he winks before turning around and heading toward his team. I shake my head in an attempt to bring myself to reality, and that’s when I see a few cameras on me.

Hustler has found a family within the MC and although he is not celibate, he is not a playboy either. He has denied his feelings for Audrina as at first, she was not in a place where they could be together and then he was not certain she would want to. Once he finally makes his intentions clear and realizes she feels the same he is all in and is not about to let anything come between them.

Audrina has been involved with Hustler and the MC for a while, but she is still adjusting to life after her divorce. She isn’t sure that she and Hustler are a good match despite her attraction to him but when she experiences both the protective and swoony side of him, he seems to be everything that she didn’t know she wanted.

Both Hustler and Audrina have pasts which does create some complications but once they give in to their feelings for each other there is no denying they belong together as they take us on an adventure that includes romance and suspense.
