After the way her last relationship ended Mavis escaped to Florida with her son Dutton for a while, but she has recently returned to close this chapter of her life. When she comes to Clay’s rescue, she finds herself staying with him and not only is he patient and understanding with her but her son as well.

Clay knows that Mavis and Dutton are still feeling the aftereffects of what they have endured and even though he knows he will make mistakes he tries to show them that not only can they trust him to protect them but that he will always be there for her.

Even though their reasons were different both Clay and Mavis were cautious about love due to their past. They just fit together like they were always meant to be, and his siblings were there for all of them when the intrigue part of the story amped up. I enjoyed the cadence by the narrators as they ensured that listening to the story was a pleasurable experience.
