“Rachel?”
I literally snap the tip of my pencil on the page at the sound of Dalton’s voice. I’ve avoided the library since our breakup. I figured I’d be able to slip in and out unnoticed today because, as I have his schedule memorized, I knew he’d be in his study group at the café. Of course now I doubt the existence of the study group at all. I bet that was yet another code word for “f*cking your bestie.”
Words fail me, and my emotions are still raw and undealt with, so I slip on the invisible mask and twist in my chair to meet him with a hard glare. His eyes dance from me to Logan, that tiny dent he always gets when he’s perplexed forming over his left brow. If I were certain Logan would play along with me, I’d introduce him as my friend. My tongue is still refusing to work, however, so I stick with the glare, letting it linger until Logan’s the first to break the harsh silence.
“What’s up, man. Logan.” He reaches across the table—across my chest—to shake Dalton’s hand.
My ex chuckles, taking his palm and nodding.
“I’m Dalton,” he says, glancing down and seeming to catch enough of my notebook to piece things together because his eyes flutter shut as he smiles. “Oh, right. Tutoring. Of course.”
“What do you mean of course?” Now my mouth works? Those are the words I choose as my first since he stomped on my integrity and heart at the same time.
“Oh, nothing. I mean, you’re probably a great tutor. And it makes sense. I’m sure Logan can use your help, and you’re probably saving up for . . . you know.” His sure smile falters a bit when he realizes the corner he’s back himself into.
“This isn’t a paid thing, so no. I’m not saving up for . . . you know.” The corners of my mouth pinch, and I swallow down the bile bubbling up.
“How do you know I’m not the tutor?” Logan pipes in.
Dalton laughs, probably assuming he’s making a joke. Neither Logan nor I laugh, though.
“Oh, I assumed . . . I mean . . . what subject is it?” His forehead squiggles up, and I figure Logan will let him off the hook in a few seconds.
“Physical education,” he says, instead of the “I’m just messing with you” I anticipated.
His tone is deadly serious, and before I have time to react, Logan hooks his foot in the leg of my chair, dragging it and me closer to him, the chair squealing along the wood floor. Without looking up at Dalton, he focuses instead on my face, leaning forward and brushing a loose wave of hair behind my right ear. His thumb grazes my cheek along the way, and my body peppers with goosebumps underneath my sweatshirt and jeans. If I could muster any saliva, I’d swallow right now. Instead, I lose myself in the clover green of Logan’s eyes.
A nervous laugh slips out of Dalton’s mouth, this time earning a “quiet, sir” from our favorite librarian. I glance in his direction just in time to see his ears turn red, a tick he’s had since he was a kid, a vasovagal response from unwanted attention. I used to feel bad for him when it would happen. It’s his biggest fear about arguing in court one day. Right now, however, I enjoy every cherry red moment.

𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 (Lake Spark Inn book 1 April 9th)
What to expect: Insta-attraction, opposites attract, he falls first, emotional wounds, long distance
BLURB:
Stone is Harlow’s opposite and the retired hockey player with whom she ends up sharing a bed with…
Showing up to a small town for an author retreat began with a bad arrival at the inn. Stone Madden, the cocky retired hockey star with a tight jawline, and my opposite? He’s actually the man behind a writer I assumed was a recluse. And he’s ready to make my day miserable due to our apparent lack of enthusiasm for one another. But it doesn’t take long to discover we click with an inflammable instant attraction. The fire I thought I’d lost inside of me begins to return.
Because of him.
Together, we unlock the unexpected, a strong bond we don’t want to break. There may be distance on a map between us, but our emails and visits bring us even closer. Stone entered my life as the key to healing my emotional wounds and giving me my own love story. But eventually, something has to give, and I’m not sure my heart can handle the risk, even if he won’t give up. In retrospect, the moment our eyes first connected, I should have known…
Stone and Harlow bring the feels and steam in this he-falls-first and instalove romance. It is the first standalone book in the Lake Spark Inn series, which is part of the Lake Spark world where small-town romance has a hint of hockey.
Authors note: Like all of my books, Should Have Known is a heartwarming, feel-good romance full of banter and steam. However, it does reference assault from the past (off-page).

Colby McNichols, otherwise known as the baby-faced assassin, is the left wing for the Western Wildcats hockey team. All he has to do is sign his name on the dotted line and he’ll play for the pros after his senior season. What I’ve heard from the girls on campus, who aren’t shy about spilling the tea, is that he’s totally earned his reputation.
And then some.
It’s just one of the reasons I choose to steer clear.
Trust me when I say that my life is complicated enough without getting tangled up with a player.
For reasons I can’t fathom, Colby has decided to insert himself in my life. Everywhere I go, there he is. Which makes holding him at a distance nearly impossible. He might be smoking hot but there’s zero point in starting something with this guy. Especially since I can’t be honest about who I am.
Unfortunately, a weekend spent in Vegas changes everything.
Turns out that our friends weren’t the only ones who tied the knot in Sin City.
I can only hope that what they say is true—what happens in Vegas stays there.
I wasn’t looking to change my “bad boy of baseball” reputation. At least not until my dream girl, Pop Princess Alexis Bodega, stepped foot in my clubhouse to sing for the stadium on opening day.
There’s just one problem, and it’s a big one. Her manager is also her boyfriend, and her father is her agent.
She’s kept on a tight leash with her incredibly busy schedule, and I’m at the start of a new baseball season with a new team.
It’s the worst time to explore this attraction with the wrong girl, but that doesn’t stop me from fighting my way backstage at her surprise performance in Vegas and slipping her my number.
I quickly discover that nothing is what it seems where her manager is concerned. The more I learn about America’s Sweetheart, the more I realize what the world knows of her is the carefully crafted façade of her brand…not the woman behind it all. But I’m getting to know the real Alexis, and I’m falling hard and fast for her.
Her father might be the one holding the ball, but I’m in a scoring position, and I won’t let anything stop me from getting the win.
SCORING POSITION is the first book in the VEGAS HEAT: BASES LOADED series. This series must be read in order.

She’s too young for me.
Too nice for me.
And she’s my little brother’s ex-girlfriend.
So why can’t I keep my hands, and my heart, to myself?
Lila Webster is my temporary assistant. That’s it. But I’m distracted by her gorgeous face, her sharp mind, and the sunshiny smile that burns straight into my grumpy soul.
I’m determined to keep my head down and my hands off. In a few weeks, I’ll head back to my life in Boston and leave behind the moose, the lumberjacks, and the crazy small-town gossip.
But between the thefts, break-ins, and constant danger, my family is counting on me to clean up the mess my criminal father left behind. And she’s the only person I trust to help. Our late nights, road trips, and inside jokes bring us too close and make it difficult to stay away.
And soon, I can’t stop myself from taking what’s not mine.
We’ve both been burned by the small-town rumor mill, so we agree to sneak around. But things don’t stay secrets in Lovewell for long, and it’s only a matter of time before we get caught in the act.
I know that when I go, I’ll be forced to leave my heart behind. Because no matter how badly I want her, she can never truly be mine.
The Drawback of Single Dads by Piper Rayne is now live!
He’s the father of my child and my best friend.
When Hudson and I met, somehow things just clicked between us. We had the same sense of humor and the same carefree attitude about our lives and goals. Neither of us wanted to lay down roots, we wanted to explore the world.
Then one night, too much alcohol and uncontrolled hormones led to the line blurring, and we fell into bed together only to discover a month later that we were more careless than we thought.
Like the upstanding guy he is, Hudson followed me back to my hometown of Lake Starlight, Alaska, where you can’t throw a penny and not hit one of my family members. We gave them the news that yes, we were having a baby but there would be no wedding. We loved each other but we weren’t in love.
Fast forward three years and we live side by side to make co-parenting our daughter easy. I’m a writer, and he’s a ski instructor. We’ve worked out all the rough edges. Life is good.
Until out of nowhere, things start to change. He has a girlfriend, we’re arguing more than ever, and it feels as if someone has come along and popped our perfect bubble. I’m not sure we’re ever going to fit back inside it now because things are developing. Things like feelings.
