Lila may not have the same background as the other students at school but that has only made her that much stronger and more resilient. She is strong, confident and is not about to be insulted or belittled by anyone and that includes Maddox, the boy who seems to control the school and everyone in it.

Maddox has a painful past of his own, but he keeps it buried inside. He is the star quarterback, popular and can have any girl he wants. During his interactions with Lila she gives as good as she gets but rather than pushing her away it only makes him want to know the girl who is willing to challenge him.

What starts out with them trying to one up each other turns into a friendship and finally so much more but hang on as the shocking cliffhanger is just around the corner.
