A promise is a promise, but he made one that may be impossible to keep.
One look at her takes his breath away just moments before he makes a complete ass of himself. Zyan’s sure if he can get her to accept his apology, he can charm her into his arms. He’s also sure it’s going to take a lot of work. She’s not like the other women he’s met, and it’s clear that she won’t take any nonsense from him.
Landee worked hard to get her company started, and it’s a good living for a single mom, even if it is a bit unconventional. When the tall, good-looking firefighter pokes fun at her, she’s in no mood for his caveman attitude. She tries to avoid him, but when she finally offers him a chance to redeem himself, she sees a side of Zyan that leaves her wanting more.
Before long they’re more than just friends, and Zyan is also totally smitten with Landee’s little girl, Annalise. Her ex, Curt, has always been a decent father to Annalise, but his behavior is becoming far too strange. That makes Landee very uneasy. Turns out she has every reason to be.
Zyan promised Annalise if she was ever in trouble, he’d find her. He doesn’t have any idea where to start on his quest to keep his promise, but he knows one thing. They’re the family he’d always dreamed of, and no one is going to rip his two girls from his arms, not if he has any say in it.
The last thing that Landee needs is someone else looking down on the company that she created so she is quick to let Zyan know what she thinks of his attitude. She believes that this will be the one and only time they will have to see each other but fate had other ideas and she is beginning to realize that there is more to the man than she realized.
Zyan is a firefighter who regrets the witty comment that he made. He wants a second chance to make a first impression but it will take all his powers of persuasion to convince not only Landee but her daughter Annalise as he is quick to realize that they are a package deal. Just when things are looking up when it comes to their relationship Annalise finds herself in danger and Zyan will do anything to protect the little girl he has come to love as well as her mother.
I really enjoyed the relationship that Zyan had not only with Landee but with her daughter as well. Although they had their challenges there was no doubting that they were meant to be a family.
Deanndra Hall is a working author living in the far western end of the beautiful Bluegrass State with her husband of over 35 years and small menagerie of weird little dogs. When she’s not writing, she’s editing. When she’s doing neither of those two things, she’s having dinner with friends, spending time with family, kayaking, eating chocolate, drinking beer or moonshine, or looking for something that she put in the wrong place and can’t seem to find (which is pretty much everything she owns).
