Skylar’s home situation is heartbreaking and has led to some self-destructive behavior. She is trying to finish school with no support, either financially or emotionally, and she is uncertain how to get out of the predicament she finds herself in and what her future could hold. Jude is there when she needs someone the most and he gives her hope of what her life could be like.

Jude is much older and much more jaded than Skylar. He has a painful past and wants to help Skylar as he was unable to help those he loved in the past. What starts out as an arrangement rather than a true marriage becomes complicated when rules are bent and unbending them no longer seems possible.

Despite the difference in ages and lifestyle Skylar and Jude are soulmates. They bring each other a peace that neither expected but the judgments of others can be daunting. It becomes an emotional journey for them to realize that the love, acceptance and how they feel about each other is all that truly matters.
