A grumpy bartender learns he’s a dad in Kelly Siskind’s latest Bower Boys romance full of second chances, small-town charm, and steamy, slow-burn heat.
Â
For the last ten years, I’ve been living a lie in witness protection. But the drug cartel that put me there isn’t a threat anymore, so I can have my life back. I should be thrilled, right?
Â
Wrong.
Â
The last thing I want to do is go back home and show everyone how far I’ve fallen. I’m not the high-powered lawyer they all expect me to be. I’m just a guy who slings drinks and scowls at the world.
Â
But then I hear about Max, my ex’s ten-year-old son. My ten-year-old son.
Â
I have to go back now. Figure out how to be a dad. Face the love of my life. Make things right with Sadie and earn her trust. Will she have me—or is it too late to reinvent myself as the man she once loved?

It’s been a decade since Desmond was torn from the future he planned and the woman he loved. He and has family has spent that time in Witness Protection and now that the danger is only he doesn’t know how to move forward with his life until he learns that not only has the only woman he ever loved returned to her hometown but she wasn’t alone.
Sadie had no choice but to move forward with her life not only for herself but her son Max as well. Desmond’s reappearance in their lives was unexpected but the feelings between them hadn’t diminished over time and it isn’t long before he shows her that he is determined to forge a relationship with the son that he didn’t know he had.
Desmond was disappointed with the life he was living but Sadie and Max give him purpose and make him want to be the man they both deserve.
