Rachel is a journalist who finds herself in Mustang Mountain to write a story about the rodeo they are hosting. As she watches Roman work with the horses she can’t help but admire how patient and gentle he is with them, but she is beginning to suspect that not everything is as it appears when it comes to the horses.

Roman was drawn to Rachel from their first meeting as she sees beyond what he views as his imperfections to who he is. As she tries to uncover the truth about the irregularities regarding the horses he is concerned that she is placing herself and the town in danger.

Rachel is independent however she also wants to do what is right for the town and Roman while Roman wants to protect Rachel especially from herself and the way they put each other first was what made their romance special.
