Dutton is misunderstood by most people due to actions when he was younger and nobody has let him forget it. He wants to purchase one of the properties in town however that is proving to be difficult so he suggests that Brooke pretend to be his friend and they can both get what they want.
Brooke has been working towards purchasing her own bakery however recent events have made that even more difficult. When Dutton first makes his suggestion she isn’t about to agree because of what she believes she knows about him but as they spend time together she realizes he is nothing like his reputation.
When it comes to those he loves Dutton cares deeply and will do anything to protect them including trying to purchase the property that bring he and Brooke together. The romance between them is heartwarming as they share their secrets and open their hearts to each other.
