Meet Janice Whiteaker:

I am a stay-at-home mom who needed a freaking break from never-ending conversations with five-year-olds about poop and farts.

So I decided to write books.

And drink whiskey.

Sometimes simultaneously.

I live on a farm-ish in southwestern Ohio with three kids, one husband, fifteen chickens, nine ducks, a guinea pig, a gecko and whatever else my husband and children think sounds like fun. I love to cook and to pretend like my house is clean.

When Ruth finds herself in a difficult situation she will do anything to protect her daughter Birdie and that includes trying to convince Tucker that he is her father. When she arrives at his door nothing happens as she expected when he agrees to give her the money she needs if she will pretend to be his temporary girlfriend.

Even though Tucker has a reputation with women when Ruth shows up at his door he knows that they do not have a past. Despite that he can see that she is in a desperate situation, so he offers to pay her to pretend they are together to thwart his mother’s matchmaking attempts however when they find themselves living together falling love with mother and daughter wasn’t part of the plan.

Tucker’s relationship with Ruth and Birdie is heartwarming as he shows how he feels with the way he cares for them and the way that Tucker’s family are there to meddle when necessary only makes it better. The audio performance of CJ Bloom brings out the strength and resilience sides of Ruth while Grayson Owens brings out the sweet and swoony sides of Tucker.
