After enduring a tragedy Calder and his family have been living off the land and are very guarded when it comes to the people they allow on their land and in lives. When Lara, the sister of his college girlfriend, comes looking for help to find her missing sister he is all in even if that means facing the feelings he has always had for her.
Lara is an ER doctor who is the caretaker in her family. When she can’t locate her sister and isn’t getting the answers she needs she knows that the one person who can help her is Calder even if it has been more than a decade since he has been in their lives. As they go undercover pretending to be in a relationship becomes even more complicated due to the relationship he had with her sister and how she has always felt about him.
This was an entertaining start to a new series and leaves us wanting the stories of Calder’s siblings. The suspense is intriguing, the surprises keep coming and the romance between them is undeniable despite all the challenges they face.
