Layla is an investigator for a podcast who specializes in cold cases and has come to Hatterwick Island to look into the disappearance of Gwen from years earlier. She is a woman with secrets and uncovering the truth is feeling very personal. When she meets Jace she is drawn to him in a way she never expected however she isn’t certain she can trust him with her truths even if they are working together.
Jace was raised on Hatterwick Island, and he was in the Navy for over a decade. His sister is connected to Gwen so when Layla arrives and wants to speak with anyone who knows anything about the disappearance that includes him. Meeting her he knows that there is a lot he isn’t telling her, but he is willing to be patient until she knows she can trust him with her secrets.
The romance between them draws you in but it is the intrigue part of the story that keeps you on edge. The characters of Layla and Jace are well developed and relatable and their relationships with the other people involved heartfelt as they take us on an adventure that is both heartfelt and fulfilling.
